Dragon Ball and Startups

Anyone who knows me well knows I love anime, and the news of the passing of the legendary Akira Toriyama, who created the Dragon Ball juggernaut, hits hard.

I always likened the startup journey to a massive adventure of the kind you might see in Dragon Ball--a goal to be the best in the universe, to build an incredible team that supports one another, to laugh through the hard times, to strive to get better constantly, and to never, ever, ever give up.

My favorite personality trait of Goku--Dragon Ball's main character--was that he was constantly looking to improve. When he had to go up against someone stronger than he was, he didn't get anxious or frightened.

To the contrary, Goku got excited, because he knew that the only way to grow was to go up against someone bigger and badder than he was. And through that struggle, he still always managed to come out on top.

Thank you Toriyama-san for inspiring me through my journey and helping me keep moving forward, even in the toughest of times.
